How much do you pay for Cablevision?
I have had DirectTV for years and am considering switch to cable. How much do you pay for basic programming or other packages? I was paying $47.99 plus $24 for HBO and Showtime.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just call your local cable company and ask them what they'd charge you?

No, they just want to sell you stuff. They will offer a discount if you lock into a contract for their services tho.

I have the family plan that allows me to get espn, mtv, tbs, cnn, etc, but not premium channels. I pay about $59/month. This includes rental for one digital box and remote control. I think it's a pretty bad deal.

Try rabbit ears. TV just turns your brain to mush. There is nothing but junk and repeats on cable. Public television is the only worthwhile station.

This is the most useless post I've ever seen.

while i agree with the others chiding you for your laziness, as someone who went from Cablevision to Direct TV, I can't imagine ever going back. Yes, you lose DTV a few times a year due to weather, but their customer service is light years better than Cablevision.

We've got Cablevision and HATE it. The price was great the first year but now we're paying over $150/month for "triple play." The DVR sucks (shows often end up scrambled or cut off), the phone is unreliable and subject to dropout, customer service is often MIA... we play on switching to Direct TV as soon as we can make the time to deal with the switch.

I agree with carrie m, Cablevision sucks big time!
For the first year it wasn't so bad b/c you figure you're only paying about $100 per month but after that the service just goes down hill but the price goes up. I'm paying about $160 per month now for triple play.
Also what I really hate is in the middle of watching a show the box just freezes and then you have to turn off the box, pull out the plug, count to 5, plug the cord back in and if your lucky then it works.
I really want to change to the dish but don't like the look of having one attached to the side of my brownstone or on the roof.
