Has anyone done a solid glass kitchen backsplash? (not tiles)

Has it worked out for you? How do you like it?

love it. stays very clean. just make sure that the glass is painted on the back (ours is white) not clear or frosted. bear glass in brooklyn has samples and can fabricate.

thanks. why not frosted? can it be frosted on the back? or would this not work with the adhesive to put it up?

Can you give me an idea of what this costs per square foot? I just heard of the idea yesterday and am investigating as a possibility for our ongoing kitchen reno.

We have one- used the glass store on 5th ave near bergn in park slope- they were great and inexepensive. We had ours painted black in back, and they used tempered glass. It's super easy to keep clean and looks simple and great. I will do this in our next place too.

Unless that back is painted (and not just frosted) you will see the mastic through the glass. Since glass is hard to cover evenly, you'll get the texture of the mastic through the glass. Trust me -- that looks awful. The front could be frosted (I bet that looks good) but keep the back painted.

Dumb question maybe, but who does the painting? The glasier or you?
