Door Replacement
Our brownstone needs our front door replaced. Can anyone recommend a good person who could make one? Also do you need to run designs past any historical review panel?

Jim Galloway is perfect for this.

Try artistic wood crafts -- located at the BNY. Small shop that does beautiful work. email them at artisticwoodcrafts@verizon.net
Ann -- I have used them for other work, but have been to their shop and have seem many, many beautiful doors.

How you can own a house and not know whether you're in a landmark district boggles my mind.
Might you be related to the guy who spent $10 million to buy the old police station in Brooklyn Heights and later claimed not to know it was landmarked when his inappropriate renovation plan was denied?

Do NOT use nathan and south slope woodworks for anything unless you want to waste a whole lot of your money and even more of your precious time and patience waiting on him to do the job right. I had a horrible experience with him on a simple project which he totally screwed, took money for and walked away from without making right. I've still got plans to see him in Small claims court. Meanwhile, I have met at least two others who have shared similar horror stories about SSW. Plus, if you do a careful search of the archives, you will find detailed negative reviews about him. Run, don't walk away from the idea of doing any business with this jerk.

I used Heights Woodworking they did doors for me at my other house and did a wonderful
job. They have been in business for over
50 years.
