countertop sources in new york
Does anyone have recommendations for relatively inexpensive sources for corian and granite countertops in the new york/brooklyn area? Also, I'm interested in places that sell recycled materials. I know about Green Demolitions. Are there others? Thanks.

We used Stone Source in Manhattan. Not the least expensive option, but excellent quality at a fair price.

We got our Corian countertop at A&K Tile in Park Slope--on 9th St., near 5th or 6th.
Price seemed fair, although to be honest I didn't shop around at all.

Mondial Tiles on 1402 65th Street and 14th Ave

They really did a excellent job installing my granite counter.
Price based on the stone and how much you need.

I used e-stone in Brooklyn for my granite countertops. I think they have a website, so try googling it. Ran about $60/sf installed. Very professional and very fast turnaround.

I bought honed black absolute honed granite countertops from Galactic Building Supply, Inc. (546 3rd Ave, Brooklyn-718.768.6060) With installation, their price came in about $1,000 cheaper than two other places I called.
I got my bathroom and kitchen tiles at Mondial (overpriced in retrospect). I will NEVER use them again. After dropping almost $2,000 on bathroom tiles, they called me back to say that they had made a mistake and had forgotten to charge me $20 for two extra slate tiles. They made a big stink about the extra $20 at which point I told them I would cancel my entire order. This seemed to put things into perspective for them. But they've lost my business for good.

We are using Kennedy Tile & Granite in Jersey. They install on Thursday so I can't comment completely but I did find that they were half of the quotes I got from Brooklyn companies. Their warehouse of stone made me finally understand why granite is so amazing. It really does come in many different forms. One caveat: it does require at least two visits to NJ. First is pick stone and probably another to leave the deposit if you don't want to make an on the spot decision. Good luck!

I had my counters installed by Mondial Tiles just a few months ago. Very professional and knowledgeable staff as well as great turn around time. I would highly recommend checking them out and plan to use them for next project.

I would highly recommend Mondial Tiles. They were extremely helpful with my renovations and they also offered a substantial discount on my kitchen tiles...I will be using them again in the future...
