Cost of C of O from 1 to 2?
Hi, I am thinking of converting the basement in our two story plus basement into a rental unit. Does anyone have ideas about the costs of doing this legally i.e. filing/changing the C of O from 1 to 2 and getting Con Ed and Keyspan to put in new meters etc.? ( Not the cost of the renovations from the contractor but the stuff I would need to do with the DOB etc.)? Thanks for your help!

Is the basement more than 50% below grade?

Hi, no, I think it's about exactly 50% below. There are windows and ( entrance + and exit into the garden on either end and I would not be putting walls up-so it would be a studio.

you need a survey to establish the elevations

Your basement needs to 50% above grade. and you need a certain amount of window glass per square foot of space...check the codes.
