Certificate of No Harassment
Just getting ready to fill out a certificate of no harassment application for our SRO. Seems pretty straightforward but I've heard nightmare stories of homeowners getting their applications returned months after submitting them because they were filled out incorrectly. Are there any tips or tricks? Has anyone had an application rejected for technical reasons? I know the investigation could take months -- I just want to make sure we don't prolong the process by filling the forms out in blue rather than black ink or something. Any advice appreciated.

here's my advice: hire someone with knowledge of the system. The people at HPD are notoriously difficult to work with.

We did it ourselves and had no problem. It took about four months I think. Just filled it out as best we could.

Make sure you read the rules carefully and look at your c-of-o because you could be eligible for an exemption. Depending how many class a apartment you have and the 50% rule. We just finished the process for the second time because I first exemption expired. Now we have an exemption for ever we no longer have to submit again. Yes, if you are denied you will not be able to apply again for three years so be very careful that you give as much truthful information as possible. There are no short cuts with this process. Good luck!
