cast iron fence paint?

anybody know the preferable kind of black gloss paint for a cast iron fence?

There's no cast iron at my 1899 house [too late] but FWIW I've found that Rustolium paint, over the same brand primer, holds up much better than regular oil-based exterior paint on my wrought iron window bars and gate. The paint job on my iron work that I did about 6-1/2 years ago will probably not have to be re-done for another couple of years.

I used Rustoleum primer and lacquer too on my fence and it's holding up great.

Rustoleum is great to use, but I would highly recommend a more satin finish--it will look MUCH better and still be durable.

All high-gloss paint does is highlight every little imperfection, and looks a bit plastic-y to boot.

I agree with tinarina. There is a low lustre version of Rustoleum that I've used. It has a little gloss, but is not as shiny. Looks better imo.

I didn't know that there was a low version of Rustoleum--I'll use it the next time--it DOE'S look better.

Rustoleum is good but Benjamin Moore Iron Clad is better. Comes in gloss, soft gloss, and satin.
