Redoing Old Floors
Old wide board floors have been sanded down to bare wood and one coat of wax put on. How many coats of wax should be put on to give the wood a nice look and protection? Can you recommend a good wax? I didn't do the first coat. This is instead of polyurethane.
thanks in advance.

Butchers Wax is a lot of maintenance you will need to re-apply each year in heavy traffic areas. This is an oil wak product we use.It is flat in finish a little expensive but it can be touched up if scratches appear with steel wool & wipe on more wax. You can do this yourself. Butchers wax is messy & very slippery I am not a big fan of it. You will need to apply the wax with a buffing machine Ugh!

Butchers Wax in the orange can. If you are not doing a huge space you can do the entire job by hand including cleaning, application, and buffing. It takes elbow grease but the results are satisfying and rewarding.
Your floors will thank you for allowing them to breathe instead of suffocating.
