I second that. He's a true artiste.

This is not exhibiting the Christmas spirit. It seems this board gets nastier and nastier. That being said, good contractors and architects seem hard come by and perhaps checking out the threads is the best idea. Also, if you have time, house tours as you can see work first hand and most owners will share the names of those who did the work on their houses.

Absolutely! We loved working with Christoph- he did large scale projects in Germany, and is trying to establish himself here in NYC. He is licensed and absolutely wonderful to deal with. He redesigned our brownstone in ways we never would have imagined.

I would recommend Sarah Jefferys - she does really beautiful work - we lived together in a Brooklyn brownstone building for years and she did gorgeous ikea kitchen renovations in both our rental apts for our landlord very cheaply and fast. But she also does high end beautiful kitchens which I have also seen. Here is her website:

Perla Delson. www.delsonsherman.com

She's doing a major reno on my 3-story, 3 family brick on Clifton Place.

I looked at some of the architect's sites and they all look the same. White walls, sterile, no detail in the homes, 'modern' furniture from the 1950's. Its so boring - and not a good fit with a brownstone. I would suggest, like the poster above, go on house tours, or even to open houses of houses for sale. You will get better ideas than just sheetrock everything and put in a modern kitchen and see how people really live.
