Look after our car for 3.5 months?
I'm not sure if this is going to attract the right responses or any responses but here goes: Does anyone in the slope/clinton hill/windsor terrace/boerum hill etc want to adopt our honda CRV for 3.5 months? use it locally at least (no cross country trips please) and avoid parking tickets and return it to us without additional damage in April? We'd put you on the insurance policy and run your social and DL number.
Please email us email here describing why this is an ideal arrangement for you I'll get in touch with whomever seems trustworthy.
It is a very reliable older CRV, won't let you down.
Ideally someone who is going to use it for trips to fairway, visit their mom in queens, and/or a few trips upstate. Non smoker. Good car for dog owners too far from the park (keep them in the back though). You do need to be fully aware of the alternate side parking shuffle.

I think the point is they are looking for someone to pay them to use the car, if I am not mistaken, like a very short term lease.

Funny I thought they were offering it for free. Although I'd never do it myself, especially with a stranger. OP, you don't have any friends (or acquaintances) at all who want to use a car for a few months?

Oh, so cute. The CR-V needs some car-sitting. Hope you find a loving person to take good care of it while you're away.

Off topic for this site. May not get much helpful comments from readers. try craigslist or a local community blog.

Identity theft perhaps. Why would you give your DL# and SS# to someone so you can "babysit" their car. This is so stupid I can't believe it.
Just rent a parking space...

You want to run my Social Security number, OP? Fine. Give me yours first.
Ridiculous.

Wow, didn't even think how it would be a scam, but that makes sense now. I thought it was weird someone would offer a stranger their car -- it's something you'd offer a friend, not a stranger. The OP was very convincing. I might have even responded if I didn't already own a car.

You might have responded, but would you really have given your personal info in that first contact?
Maybe it is legit, but it is crazy how careful you have to be these days.

Why not just get rid of it? You'll be happier. Cars are anti-urban.

Why don't you drive American?
That is why all the jobs are going overseas and the dollar is weak.
(the What can chime in any second now..)

Don't knock CR-V's, they rock! 3:59PM -- Most new CR-Vs are manufactured in Ohio. Many Hondas are designed and produced in America so buying a Honda does, in fact, support American engineers and line-workers.

These people sound naive and a bit crazy. Talk about inviting a liability issue... sure, I'll babysit your car and go four-wheeling in Prospect Park after the next snow, after I pull off a bank job with your car. CR-V's are great in snow!
