Brooklyn Heights Beauty
I found myself locked out of my Brooklyn Heights apartment at 6pm last night. I was on my way up the fire escape when the agent who got me into the apartment was driving by. I was immediately let back into my home.
Anyway, we got to talking and apparently, Awaye Realty, who got me a gorgeous studio in 10 Clark, has a new property for rent in the area, that supposedly puts my apartment to shame. I was too flustered to inquire about more, and i have a cousin moving here from Maryland, anybody know anything?

really desperate. it would have been a better story if the realtor hadn't recognized you, called the cops, and had you arrested for going up the fire escape.

Hilarious. You know, it IS a sign of the market that realtors are getting this desperate.

I know everyone makes fun of Aguayo, but Awaye gets the prize in my book for most clueless, annoying and amateur RE broker in Brooklyn, after reading this post.
We went to a condo open house in Park Slope a little over a year ago, that was repped by Awaye. First, the realtor at the open house kept saying over and over the condo was in PS 321. It wasn't. And the way she was talking about PS 321, was like we've never heard of the school. When everybody has. And this was even after we'd told her we lived in the neighborhood. She clearly didn't know her typical buyers in Park Slope. Why somebody hires a broker from outside the neighborhood the property is located, go figure. Anyway, the other realtor there, some 23 year old brainless twit, aggressively demanded of me, "Well why isn't your broker WITH you?" In an condescending tone that indicated she assumed I knew nothing about real estate. She said this after I put down our broker's name instead of our name on the sign-in sheet (which is, hi, totally common practice). Like the poor thing thought we were going to say "Oh gee, Miss Broker, you're right, we should sign with you instead, to be our buyer's agent!" It was actually her way of trying to get us to sign with her. So I told her I'd bought and sold two houses already in my lifetime and knew what I was doing, thank you, and didn't need my broker holding my damn hand every step of the way.
Ugh, they were both so dumb. And the incident totally illustrated what I always say - NEVER hire a broker who has never worked in a corporate environment previous to becoming a broker. Otherwise they will be awkward and lack decent sales skills and they won't be "closers". Intelligence is required to be a RE broker just as much as it is in any profession. It's not retail. You can't be a Macy's salesgirl then become a RE broker. Not in this town. Thankfully, the upside of the recession will be all the idiot brokers having to leave the business.

actually, i'm in no way affiliated with awaye realty, except that i rented my apartment with them. it's so sad that a simple comment can create such a backlash, i'm sorry i asked.
