who have you used for replacing heat ducts
we just paid 1800 dollars to have envirospect thoroughly clean our heating ducts, only to find that a fine, black metallic dust is still blowing out of our registers...most likely because of rust from previous unknown water damage. now we're being told that we'll have to replace all ductwork in our 4 story house...we have a forced hot air gas system. any good experiences out there with this kind of job? who did you use? thanks.

Did you also have this dust problem before the cleaning or was it a side effect of the work that was done?
I've never heard of anyone having to replace all their duct work. FWIW, I've never had a problem with the hot air ducts in my 1899 house, but neither have I had them cleaned oither than vacuuming the hot air registers from time to time).

Sorry--I see you wrote "dust is still blowing out", so it must have been there even before the cleaning.
I wish I had a suggestion--replacing all the duct work seems extreme. I wonder if there are filters you could attach to each register?

This might sound a bit crazy, but how about putting a large and strong magnet inside the duct work near each register.
Its cheaper then replacing all the ductwork and if you can find the right shape and size, it might work. All you'll have to do is clean the magnets every few weeks.
