What is this weatherproof outlet next to my stoop
It looks like a weatherproof outdoor electrical outlet in the front parapet area of a 1910 brownstone - on the front wall. But open the flap of the weatherproof box and instead of a standard mains outlet there is a 10 (i think) pin prong in there. What could this be for?

dude, does the internal wire connect to your water meter?
If yes, it's your water meter reading outlet (the city reads your water usage from outside).
sigh ... "Yeah, I just dropped $2 mil on my new brownstone and there's all this nifty mechanical stuff inside! Yippee ... ok, back to my hedge fund. Laters."
