thick entrance curtain to keep out the cold
To contain the drafts created when entering through the under-the-stoop entranceway, we are thinking of putting up a thick curtain in the interior door frame. We don't want to put in and navigate yet another door when entering the house. Has anyone done this? Where can I get such a curtain?

we did this at the main entrance of our house with a very heavy velvet curtain we bought at a yard sale. It wasn't especially convenient entering and exiting the house (especially entering) due to having to push it aside while opening the door at the same time (door opens in). Just something to consider. Apart from that it really did help minimize the draft.

we did this in our place upstate with Pottery Barn velvet curtains, and it works very well.

We did this in our basement and I found really well-priced thermal-lined drapes on JCPenney's website.

You might be a lot happier if you hire a carpenter to weatherproof the door. For a very reasonable cost, we had all our exterior doors weatherproofed using a combination of high quality brass stripping and rubber gasketing. In one instance, our carpenter added some pretty significant structural reinforcement to an old, badly fitting door. We are now happily draft free!

we would also love to get this carpenters name.
It seemes that if this site doesnt have an option to email you automaticly when some one responds to your post, the people who posted the beginning of the information never get the request for a follow up with additional info.
Does anyone know where to make such a suggestion how to improve this sites capabilities ?
