roof tear off

how much does a roofer typically charge to tear off a roof for a building 20 by 40 ? there are 2-4 layers currently on it.

The entire job including new roof runs $20-$30k. Make sure your estimates are all for the same thickness plywood sheathing.

Removal and disposal of debris: $2,400
New plywood sheathing: $3,200
New insulation & single ply membrane: $8,000
Flashings (assuming a couple of skylights): $3,800

Total: $17,400

Note that removal price assumes there is NO asbestos-containing material.

The debris removal figures listed above are very low. Roofers charge a lot since removing old roofing is very difficult and a pain in the arse.

I had a roof tear-off of over 11 layers several months ago by Rocco Roofs. Anthony was great. Total price $7,000
