Pre-War Condo & Potential Development Problem?
I was hoping someone could help me out with this. The pre-war mid-rise building in the picture is undergoing a condo conversion. If you look closely, you'll see there is a 25X100 building in the forefront, which is a separate structure and houses commercial spaces. The mid-rise and the small building in front are owned by two different entities. Would it ever be possible for the owner of the smaller building to develop his site and build up--therefore blocking off that 1/4 of the pre-war building behind it? (The small building is 10,000+ under FAR.) I'm considering a unit on that side of the building and am wondering if that is a remote possibility or if it's completely off-the-wall paranoid. Thanks.

This is not Brooklyn, is it?

Isn't this at the corner of 97th and broadway?
Do you have details about the conversion. I'd be interested for a friend...
God, I hope they keep the Texas Rotisserie

Isn't there some sort of building code that would prevent that many windows from being blocked?

I've heard that the conversion for the building is not going too smoothly. Lots of issues. Apartments are a wreck, tenant issues, grungy building in great disrepair.

Yeah, that's on the UWS. I'd say that given the recent abominations that have been springing up on Broadway in that area, there's a good chance someone's going to put up a big fat glass finger there pretty soon...

Yes, it is 97 & Broadway. And it's true that the conversion is not going well--at all. That's why I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to build up on that lot in front of the building. I think Texas Rotisserie has been gone for a while.

Yeah, 9:30, because there are some real beauts going up all over Brooklyn.

after two said abominations have been constructed, zoning has now eliminated the chance that such a travesty will happen again on broadway...
too little, too late, but onward...
