No Rigging Permit; What do I do?

The contractor I hired to re-do the brownstone on the front of my house neglected to get a rigging permit for his scaffold. We have been served with a stop work order and a hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19th. I have also been written up for not getting permission before hanging "C" hooks on the roof. What do I do? I assume I'd better lawyer up. The contractor has been very hard to get hold of and I am getting worried.

I hope you only gave him a small deposit.

Use fixed scaffolding, a rigging license isn't required nor is a permit

10:51. Um, not sure where you got that info about fixed scaff not requiring a permit. If the contractor is doing any work overhead, a sidewalk bridge (along with its mandatory permit) is necessary. Additionally, if any fixed scaffolding extends to +40' from grade, it will also require permitting.

That said, the combination of skyhooks and sidewalk bridge is often the most cost effective way to get the job finished.
