Firebox installation

We need to have our chimneys relined. One of them serves a wood burning fireplace that has been closed up for years. We have good quotes on having the actual chimneys relined, but need to purchase a new firebox and screens and have them installed. Can anyone recommend a company that charges reasonable rates. I have heard wildly varying quotes for chimney work from my neighbors. Thanks.

Would you be willing to share the name of the chimney company you are going to use.

I searched the forum for ages to find answers to this question, and didn't find much good testimony. So when I converted two of my fireplaces to wood burning, I resolved to share it here—complete with a ton of pictures. I used Fireside this past summer (their number is in the second, follow-up post), and the prices are in there, too. We are very pleased. And I’m gonna spark one up tonight—it’s collld out there. Good luck.

By the way, I'm a little nervous about your language "need to purchase a new firebox." You don't mean one of those ugly, metal prefab ones, do you? I would recommend instead having your mason build a firebox/smoke chamber out of honest brick, the way ours did.

This first post shows the process:

And this one shows the results.
