Cortelyou & East 18th Street

The North side of Cortelyou is in Beverly Square East. Ditmas Park, which has landmark status, runs from Ocean Avenue to East 16th St., Between Dorchester Rd. and Newkirk Ave. Although I live just a few blocks away and drive by the location a couple of times a month there is not much I can tell you. The private homes seem well kept and the streets are as safe as any in the area.

7:00 is correct. If you are on the north side of Cortelyou Road and East 18th you would be in Beverley Square East. The south side of Cortelyou and East 18th would be Ditmas Park but is not the landmarked section of Ditmas Park. The area between Dorchester and Cortelyou from Ocean to East 16th was considered Ditmas Park before the private homes were torn down in the 30's and 40's to erect apartment buildings. Many realtor maps conveniently leave off this section of Ditmas Park when referring to the area though. The area in general is nice. Mostly working middle class people of every background that you can imagine in the apartment buildings with their slightly wealthier neighbors owning homes. There are occassionally violent crimes most where the victims and assailants know each other or had some type of disagreement. The apartments in some of the older buildings are beautiful and the houses of course are beautiful too.
