Changing the water main - who to call
My water main is made of lead, and I would like to change it. Can you recommend someone for this job?
If you have had a good experience recently I would like to hear the name/s, and ideally, how much you paid for the full job.
Thanks a lot.

I used a company called Main Man = 4K
Seemed to do a good job...make sure they get DOT permits to do the work.

Are those quotes assuming that your house is on the same side of the street as the hydrant/main line that runs down the street?

Mine was $3000 to cross Hall Street in 2002.
Matthew Ruggiero Plumbing.
I can't remember if they had to dig 3 holes or if they were able to do it with 2.

Thanks again.

Just had it done last week. $4k, one full day job. Main was on other side of street. Dug 3 holes. Repaving happens a week after job but they fill back in with asphalt, etc.
Used: Main Man

5:10 PM here.
They came yesterday and replaced it in one day.
City pipe was the same side of the street. Fire hydrant outside our house.
Dug 3 holes
$3.5K
I wouldnt recommend them because of weird business practices.
The contract states that you pay 1/2 up front, 1/2 on laying the pipe.
What they dont tell you is that the repaving is subcontracted out. So you pay for a finished job even though the re paving hasn't been done.
Im just annoyed as its a holiday week and wet, and we could have asphalt there for a while.

Thanks again.
5:10, you didn't mention the name - would you mind?
Thanks for the tip to ask about the complete schdule (including repaving) and no to pay the last chunk until the job is totally finished.
