Building Supply Place

Has anyone tried that building supply place on Atlantic in Bed Stuy/Ocean Hill/ENY? I think it's called Park something. Any feedback?

Park Avenue Hardware was originally on Park Ave around Bedford Avenue on the Bed Stuy/Wmsburg border. I don't have a car, and haven't been over there in a while, so I don't know if they are still there, as well as on Atlantic Ave. The Bed Stuy Home Depot probably cut way into their market share. I think they are either an Ace or True Value affiliate.

Anyway, when they were on Park Ave, most of the contractors and homeowners in Bed Stuy I know would go there, over HD and Lowe's. They have better lumber, and a fully stocked inventory of building supplies, including roofing materials, doors, tools, mouldings, paint (Benny Moore), and all of the usual hardware store items. They are a minority owned business (Latino), and great to work with. And they deliver. Their prices were good, too, and they were not opposed to giving you a discount if you bought a lot of stuff.

I haven't been to the new store, (the car thing) but, if they are still as good as before, I recommend them.

Thank you, 6:18! I actually made a few phone calls and they do have the best price on 5/8 sheetrock. However, I wanted it delivered on Friday and they won't be open. Both locations still exist. Better phone service than Home Depot, but that's not saying much. For anyone interested, they deliver over $400 worth of goods. Franklin Building Supply is more expensive, but less than Home Depot and will deliver for $20 (it's close to my house).
