Why are architects snobs?
They are not the only ones who are
educated.

I see no difference between an architect, attorney, doctor, banker and an electrician, plumber, mason etc.. One group spends years in school to memorize a trade, the other spends years in the field to learn a trade. Why is it that the first group is considered to have worked so much harder to get where they are? All things considered they all make sacrifices to get where they are.

I could not agree more. I have dealt with people in many different professions -- and many at the top in their chosen field -- but rarely do I meet with the arrogant attitude that seems to be ingrained in architects.

I agree that there are SOME architects with an attitude, however I don't see a higher occurrence of this among architects as compared to individuals in other professions. I have hired several architects in the last few years, and in general I try to work with someone that I can see myself having a positive working relationship with...I recommend taking the time to find the right person to work with.

As in any profession there are some professionals who are arrogant and some who are down to earth; equally so, there are some owners and developers who are arrogant and some who are down to earth.
Like Espresso said, you need to chose your architect wisely; just as the architect needs to chose their clients wisely. I imagine most architects would not want to work with the posters above who think that architects are snobs.
It works both ways people.

I think Ysabelle is referring to the architects on this forum. They do seem to have a bit of an attitude. (A bit is an understatement) I have a few architect friends. Only one of them is a pompous ass. I wonder if it's him doing all the posts here?
