« Who is the broker for corner house on Boerum Hill... Staffing a New COndo Buldg »

A weird, yet helpful tool...
The other day, I received a phone call from Fillmore Real Estate because they saw my ad online for the apartment I'm trying to sell.
Initially, I thought it was going to be like every other call where they solicit for an exclusive. After speaking with the guy, though, he told me about a service they provide. Apparently, every week, they hold a conference call where FSBOs from all the boroughs call in and offer advice on how to sell/market your home.
Too good to be true, right? Well, maybe it's not. I called in... I would say there were 25 other people on the line. The guy went over the top 10 mistakes people make when trying to sell their home on their own. Other people chipped in with what they've found worked, and the guy made himself available for one on one chats as well.
And they never even asked for a listing! I guess they're thinking that if I'm not able to sell the place on my own, I'll come to them. If that's the case, it's gonna work, because this was the first realtor I talked to who DIDN'T ask for an exclusive... lol.
If you get a call from them, I highly suggest getting the conference call information. If you'd like to try it out, send me a message and I'll provide you with the info.

maybe brokers are starting to wise up to the fact that as long as inventory in nyc stays low, prices will stay up.
getting properties sold as quickly as possible, by any means (even fsbo) will continue to contribute to the overall health of the nyc real estate market. plain and simple.
can we think they are this wise?

If it is too good to be true, it usually is.
Just be careful and do your research.

Sounds good to me too. Why not? They don't co-broke, have a not very good website, and hardly advertise. Sign me up!

I do NOT work at Fillmore,
Fillmore is the #1 MLS broker (they CO-Broke just about every listing)
Their website is on par with any large company website... thousands of hits daily AND hundreds of emails per month.
They spend more on advertising than most companies earn in total.
I worked there for 10 years,,, I know.
Get your facts straight! :)

I was on the conference call last week! It was definitely very helpful, and the man on the line (I think his name was Zane?) never called me back to ask for a listing. It's probably what the fist person said, they want to see things on the market sell to reduce inventory.
Either way, I'll be calling into the next one :)
