The Washington Condo full time nightmare

The Washington Condo full time nightmare

i have a friend that has purchased a unit at the washington condo and to my dismay they are having alot of problems. security is a huge risk factor and they buildng has been robbed on more than one occasion. major leaks throughout the building has lead to huge amounts of mold growning all over the place. a recent rodent infestation has occured due to the poor securing of the first floor on the washington ave side. there is no response from the developer and all you get is the agony of a run around. i have talked to several people and they hate the buidling. the developer is very shady and it seems that after he has sold some units he is taking the money and running. the building looks like its still under major construction. not to mention there is no temp C of O so buyer before you put you money down and purchase something im sure you can get a better deal if you actually had half of a brain. before you make a huge mistake or unless your up for a full time nightmare dont purchase this place! i feel so bad for my friend so im taking the time to inform everyone not to fall into this hell hole they call a condo.

Where is this development and is it finished? I am somewhat confused. How is security an issue now and in what sense? How was the building robbed? Doesn't a building have to be inspected before the C of O is given? You lost me.

Photo posted is misleading - at least a year old. From the outside construction looks done, and people have moved in. Who are you and why are you posting this? If it really was your friend you wouldn't post this since s/he wants to sell.

I live in this building, and yes we are having some troubles, but no, the developer has not taken our money and run. As with any new construction there have been problems, but the problems are being taken care of. Maybe not as quickly or as painlessly as the residents would like, but they are getting taken care of.

I also live in this building and second 3:04's comments. The original poster is a very childish owner (pretending to be an outsider) who has a gripe with everyone and everything in the building. These are gross overexagerations.

This post is full of lies and is misleading. I live in the building and it is just about complete. It has issues that any new construction building would, but to make charges about the developer like that is libel and actionable and just plain dumb. The building is in good shape and to my knowledge the only "robbery" was from a storage unit of a bicycle, very petty. There were some apartment mice (do you know of a building in NYC without them?). There were leaks and the developer is paying to have mold testing and repairs to any units affected.

I also am an owner in this building, and the person who wrote this is simply a whining baby. All he knows how to do is complain, while all he has to do is submit his concerns to through the proper channels and they will be remediated. The owners have been quite responsive. BTW.. Did anyone ever teach you proper grammar, or did you just complain about your teachers too!

I understand the owners are upset! But don't try to cover up for the problems that the building still has. Buyers Beware!

Posted by: guest at October 24, 2007 4:14 PM

Don't be dramatic, there's no cover up. It's a new building with problems to sort out that are not out of the ordinary for new buildings. There was a major flood caused by a careless worker, but that wasn't a construction flaw. There was also a leak which has been repaired. The water damage is getting fixed, the mold is getting remediated, the source of the mice is being sought, the developer has not absconded with our money, punch list items are getting completed. Everything is not perfect, but it's getting fixed. Get over it.

Let me guess...the original poster is Jon? or "friend" of Jon?

Posted by: guest at October 24, 2007 4:34 PM

WHERE is this located already?

I can think of a number of reasons not to buy in this building:

1. It's a really ugly building.

2. That part of Washington is kind of crappy except for Tavern on Dean

3. Isn't this the Scarano building that is the poster child for the whole mezzanine floor area trick.

4. It's a really ugly building.

7:07, you know nothing. that part of Washington is totally a hot area , one block from C train centered between ft. greene, clinton hill, prospect heights and park slope. if all you can pick out is Tavern on Dean shows hows stupid you are and not to mention ugly as well.

Let me guess...the original poster is Hart? or "friend" of Hart?

Posted by: guest at October 25, 2007 12:26 AM

The building location is 35 Underhill Avenue
And Yes its the Scarano nightmare on Underhill Avenue building..I don't even want
to get into the mezzanine issues. Who in their right mind would buy something that cannot be legalized. And pay a price as if the damn make believe bedroom and covered up bathroom is there. I also think the owners are trying to cover up the problems. Its been a new construction for what? five years now? when does it stop being a new construction? Get it straight!
BUYERS BEWARE!

Posted by: guest at October 25, 2007 12:36 AM

guess what! its raining! take out your umbrellas and open them inside your apartments because we all know that when it rains outside it rains inside the apartments too. here we go with more leaks!

Ha ha 8:42.
This is 7:07.

Since you own a place here I can see why you are trying to convince yourself that this is "a totally hot area". That is a ridiculous statement.

I've lived on Washington for the last ten years so I'm pretty familiar with it.
How long have you lived in the neighborhood?

This block is on the outskirts and until the burned out shitholes across the street, the brothers moving building, and the other crap change, it will never be a hot area.

Any idea how that burned out car got in the yard across the street from you?

I might be stupid but I'm very familiar with my neighborhood. Your investment could turn out okay but it is definitely a long term thing for that part of washington to turn the corner.

Oh and I forgot to mention again...

your building is really ugly.

Hang in there. Your new neighbors are coming.
