pratt institut chimney air pollution
we were wondering what is actually going on with the free standing chimney at the pratt institut in clinton hill. every day it blasts out a giant black cloud that spreads over the whole neighbourhood. and this is happening a couple of times per day and sometimes for more than 10 minutes!! does anybody know if there are any environmental pollution controlls in this area????!!!

Have you tried calling the public information number at Pratt?

yeah i went to pratt... they are probably burning all the stray cats that are around there... haha, but seriously, the buildings are old and they keep that smoke stack around like its some landmark or something... feel free to check it out. security wont stop u from walking rite into the campus. ask where the career services office is (which sucks by the way because of an old hag named Judy Nylen that works there)... seriously if you knew her you would understand. but yeah, the smoke stacks come out of their engine room and you can see it on the ground floor. its displayed like a walkin museum or something. follow the cats, they pretty much sleep in the engine room. its pretty funny because the whole school is on some huge enviornmental friendly kick... supposedly they were fined a few years ago by the EPA or something... definitely call them up, ask to speak to the Provost. A really awesome guy who will definitely look into it for you.

They are cleaning the oil burner. I see this from my Manhattan office window every day.
