Locksmith recommendations?
I have a few things I need a locksmith to repair/re-install: a downstairs gate lock, a back door lock, etc. My downstairs tenant just got completely scammed by a 24-hour locksmith she called out of the Yellow pages, so I'd like to get a recommendation of a reputable locksmith for service in the Carroll Gardens area. Thanks!

I just re-keyed all of the locks for my building and I used:
Miguel's Locksmith
718 596 4142
74 4th Ave (btwn Bergen and St. Marks)
He was very helpful and affordable. I had several Mul-T-Lock cylinders re-keyed and new Mul-T-Lock Keys made and it was much less than All-Star Locksmith on Flatbush wanted and Miguel was much more helpful. He even pulled a discontinued lock out of a display set-up to match my old locks so I could have one more door keyed the same.
I took all locks out and brought them to him and then re-installed myself. So, I can't verify his service calls or even if he does them.

We had some locks replaced by the guys at the Ace Hardware on Court Street--around Livingston or Joralemon. Very nice, showed up promptly when scheduled, price seemed reasonable.

HaHaYourDadsNotHandy: Thank you. I used Andy, from Miguel's. He did a fine job and the job went smooth as silk. I spent 350 for a pair of knob locks keyed alike and a repair of an existing lock. Not dirt cheap but not crazy either.

Locksmith prices!
I needed a locksmith this morning. He promptly came over and of course said my cylinder was broken. He charged me - wait for it - $626.66!375 for a Yale lock. 195 for security cylinder - 45 for installation - had the nerve to add on service call at 45 which I had him remove and wanted cash! I gave him a check which was the only thing he could do. Oh I get 12% percent discount because I had his card. Was I completely ripped off? If so, should I cancel the check? Not something I would normally do but I am still reeling from the shock!
