Is anybody familiar with the fisher and paykiel 24 inch gas range?

I'd love to hear your input.

I have a small kitchens and it iooks like it is the only one that will fit the space.

Maybe there is something else available?

There are lots of 24" ranges available. Most are pretty cheap models -- landlord specials. The F & P is probably a better high end unit than most and they look great. But if you are spending that much money and the space only accomodates a 24" unit, something sounds wrong. The difference between a 24" and a 30" is huge for resale.

I have a 24" Amica (not Avanti) that is very nice. It's a Polish brand that's electric and has a Ceran glass top with size adjustable burners. The one I have is all black and matches our black Kohler cast iron sink. I didn't look into gas ranges since I didn't have easy access to gas. My wife uses it ever day and has had no problems during the four years we've had it. The oven temperature is off, but using a separate thermometer makes it easy to adjust.

We bought it at that appliance store in the East Village that's been around forever. I think it's called Grieger & Sons or something like that.

I have a premier 24" gas stove. It is premier's pro series line. It is all stainless steel with a black top with sealed burners. It has been great so far. The burners range between high output and simmer, a great feature. I have done some baking so far, and everything has turned out great and evenly cooked. I have yet to bake a pie or cake in it. I did have one problem, a rubber gasket for the oven broke. I called the company, got to speak to a person right away. They sent me a new one within a matter of days. I also emailed them with an operational question when I first got it and got a response right away! I think everything is made in America as well.

Don't know about their ranges, but we had their "Dish drawer" dishwasher - paid quite a premium for it - and were sorely disappointed. Although it looked great, it did a lousy job of cleaning dishes. We are infinitely happier with our more traditional - and much less costly - Bosch ($800 instead of something close to $1400 for the F&P). Not sure if this is at all generalizable to their other products, though...

Check out the Compact Appliance website, they've got a big selection of 24" ranges (and even 20" ones!):

After a lot of comparison shopping, we just bought a 24" DeLonghi Range (DEFSGG24), 18" Bosch Dishwasher (SRV53C03UC), and a 24" Summit Fridge (FFBF245SS). We got a quote from Gringer, went home and checked the prices online, and ultimately went back to the store because we could not find a better deal.
