Damp vestibule below stoop
Recommendations are needed for how to handle the vestibule below our stoop. We currently have a solid steel door enclosing the vestibule space. Unfortunately, the moisture seeps through the brownstone stoop and traps moisture, and the paint and plaster inside are crumbling after one year. Many brownstones have open wrought iron doors to vent, and I assume brownstone the walls underneath.
Are there others who enclose it? who can recommend how to handle this- do you vent the space, cementboard your walls? Paint clearly does not withstand the moisture. Help!

I had a similar problem. We vented the door and sealed the underside of the stoop. Perfect!
