Current therm price in Brooklyn
We are considering converting from oil to natural gas. I have the worse time figuring out the current average price per therm. Our current oil consumption is 4600 gal per year. How much would we pay if switching to natural gas ? Thanks

Last couple of bills were, iirc, $1.65/therm approx. If oil is 2.60/gal, thats a 12% savings by btu.
That's a lot of heating oil. How big is the house? By comparison, I paid $3200 last year for 3000 sq ft 4 floor.

thanks for your reply cmu. Our house is a 4-floor coop, 4800 sqft 4 floor. The boiler is 50 year old..

When figuring the price you pay take the total bill(gas, delivery, surcharge, tax, etc.) that you must pay and divide by the therms as counted off the meter. Please note that higher consumption brings a discounted rate on the higher volume.
