Carpet Runners for Stairs

Does anyone know where I can find carpet runners for typical brownstone stairs? Most sites i've found only sell runners w/ a width of 24 inches and above. I'm looking for something more like 17 inches. Thanks.

You can have any carpet cut and installed or bound to be narrower than the step.

Did you try ABC in the city? They have lots. Alternatively you may consider having a runner made out of regular carpet - I had this done and I quite like it. They customize it totally: witdth, color, trim color etc. You can also have a rug made out of the same one for a room or rooms, bringing a sense of conection or unity to your house.

Better Carpet Warehouse on Atlantic is great! Edwin will come out and measure, give you advice, show you samples, etc. and they seem to have everything.

17 inches is really skinny. It may work in theory with your staircase, but in practice may not work well. I would have had to have had one that narrow for my staircase and I don't think that most people confine their steps to that narrow a width (unless you are trussed up in a Japanese kimono....)
