Brazen Drug Dealer
There is a drugdealer on our block that has been attracting all kinds of seedy characters at all hours of the day and night. Despite repeated complaints to the police department about this activity and increased theft and vadalization on the block, nothing has been done so far. Does anyone have any suggestion for on how I can go about addressing this issue? Tks.

wow i have the same problem on my block and it's quite a decent block with lots of kids etc. i haven't gone the called the police route as i'm afraid i'll get my ass kicked.
do the police actually show up?

Yeah, they showed up and cuffed him because he vandalized a car and the whole block saw him do it. However, the police have not gone after him at all which I find disturbing. Not sure what else we can do, this is also a nice respectable block except for a couple of losers like this guy. I have reported it to the Mayor's Drug Hotline and the next police community board meeting is next week but I really just feel powerless. The inaction of the police is just showing this guy that he can do whatever he wants w/o any consequences...

they are probably holding out till they get enough info on him. to put him away for longer periods.

I don't know if they were drug dealers, but we had one corner in our neighborhood where some guys hung out ALL the time and now we have rookies stationed on that corner.
Keep contacting the police and the mayor about it. Keep up what you're doing.

Keep calling and reporting, attend precinct meetings, you're doing all the right things... it takes time to build a case... don't lose heart, but be discreet.
And good for you! Our co-op went through several years of hell back in the late 80's with drug issues on our block but our perserverance won out.

If your block is made up of such decent, up-standing parents, who is the guy selling to? Dealers do not pick nice, law abiding blocks to set up shop unless those goody goody, sel;f-righteous yuppies are buying drugs. Are you posting to get him busted because you lost your high and can't score any more? Did he cut you off? This is New York, not Jesuslovesyou, Utah. Get your neighbors to stop buying drugs. Getting one guy trying to make a living thrown in jail will not solve the demand problem and those neighbors and you will see a new dealer back in no time.

Hey crazy at 6:45. Yuppies don't buy their drugs off street corners.

Get together with your neighbors and run them off the block. Just make their lives miserable. But remember...there's strength in numbers. Don't do it alone. But also, do not be intimidated by them.

Actually they buy their drugs off other kids in school, 2:40pm. Every school has a drug dealing kid in it. Even in the upper income community's schools. Mine did. The drug bust in the 80's at my high school made national news, and it's one of the wealthiest counties in the country.
