A Plea to Mr B.
I love the Friday “Open House Picks”
The reason is because I’m in the market to buy, and have real interest in comps etc.
It seems that the Friday Open House Picks has now become a slog fest.
I just cant scroll through 200+ postings about which Publuic scool kicks which Public Schools ass. I just cant.
So how bout on Monday morning, Mr B. re-posts “Open House Picks - those who actually went”
Can I get a witness?

I would definately enjoy a seperate "Day After Open House Picks" as well. Would definately make it easier to dift through all of the static from the previous week.

"those who actually went" or "those who actually know the property (be they neighbors, tenants, friends of tenants, whatever)"

"or brokers and sellers" 4:15?

A-men to that!
The OH comments (as they stand now) are worthless or worse: downright irritating.

This forum post will be worthless after the AY are built.

Oh stop whining.

Friday open house list is always and always has been a slog fest -- an unmitigated crapstorm of gratuitiously nasty commentary -- God help the sellers of these properties.
Also, unlike other blogs, there is no attempt to stop it -- it just flows downward. That is why I never even read anything other than Forum. Aside from being a public toilet, much of the regular Brownstoner section is a broker gossip rag - blagh.

Me too, it's Forum that I read Brownstoner for. I get good info on Forum, and it's where I feel I can sometimes contribute good info myself, that can be helpful to people.

I dunno, this smells like a broker trying to double-dip the free advertising involved with open house picks, but the second time around doing it while the trolls (if any) are tired of pointing out the valuation is ridiculous and the local school has metal detectors at the door.

I am not interested in buying at this time, but always looked forward to the open house picks just to see what prices are doing, and more as fun house porn. But when discussions meander off into picking on stroller moms in Park Slope (which is getting really old), or incessant trollage if a house is in Crown Heights or PLG, ya gotta wonder if there isn't a better way to go. I don't think brokers are double dipping, I think some people with too much time on their hands enjoy disrupting a popular feature on a site. A couple of people with the mentality of spoiled eight year olds highjack the site at least every other week.
