Violation Reissuance Program

I received this letter from HPD listing several open violations against my b/stone - 4 class a and 4 class b. The letter basically says that I can certify that the violations are closed and not pay the fee or the dismissal request inspection that are normally required to close a violation. Some of the violations have been taken care of, others not. The letter states that it's a crime to certify that a violation has been corrected if it hasn't and that HPD MAY inspect to verify correction.

So my question is this - how likely do you think it is that HPD will show up at my door to check that it's been corrected? I'd love to have all the violations closed, but would not like to pay a fine for lying or would like even less correcting a couple of these violations (nothing serious or dangerous - just would be time consuming and possibly expensive). Any opinions? Also concerned about an inspector showing up and issuing new violations.

So, you're asking advise on whether or not you will get caught lying? Just fix the violations.

Looks like HPD is on a tear lately. Received a similar notice with violations dating back to the 80s and 90s.

I think they are re-hashing old records to generate revenue or something.

Fix the violations, the risk of getting caught lying is not worth it - cant fight city hall!

Why do we continually see posts on this site asking if its OK to lie and break the law?
Will I get caught? Is that the only motivating factor?
Where is your moral compass?
Come on. Do the right thing people!!!

I actually also received a letter. I had 4 class B and 3 class A. All but one of my class Bs were already fixed and I was able to fix the 4th relatively quickly and send that form back.

I have been trying to call the contact number provided to ask a question about 2 of my class A violations. I have called every day for 2 weeks and left several messages, but cannot seem to get someone to call me back. I want to do the right thing! Does anyone know the best way to actually get them to call you back or alternatively the answer to one of the following 2 questions:
1) one violation is for "filing satisfactory installation of smoke detecting device" - I did install combo smoke/co2 detectors as soon as we bought the house. Do I also have to certify this in some way or is it enough to just have installed them.
2) another violation is for not having a frame to display certificates of inspections, but it is a 3 C of O and as far as I know I am not required to have any regular inspections.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's a hit or miss whether or not they will inspect the old violations. But if an inspection is done and the violations were deemed not corrected, it will reflect on the record as "false certifcation."

I just sent in my paperwork after correcting the ones that weren't fixed. How many days did they say after you send in the paper work do the old violations get removed without an inspection?

Do u certified on time? If not, did you get a fine?
Did the inspector come?

I also just received a letter of Violation Reissuance Program. It's confusing. The "gold sheet" stated if missing the certified date, there will be a penalty. But on the other white paper letter, it stated that if we do not particiate the program , we can discard both sheets.
