Tree Guard Opinion / Reccomendation

I got a quote from A&J Ironwork to produce and install an iron treeguard in front of our place for $40 per foot which is roughly $640. Is this a reasonable quote?

Has anyone ever used them?

Does anyone have another outfit they have used?

Boerum Hill Assn. has a group purchase every year -- we paid $425 I think about2 years ago. If you are in Boreum Hill, join and get it thru them. You may also want to call and ask them who does the work for them. Maybe organizize a group purchase for your hood?

Is this any kind of special wrought design, or just your standard straight railing stuff? I'm also thinking about an iron tree pit guard.

Try using Larry at Bay Ridge Iron Works on Union St. They made a tree guard for me about 6 years ago. It was half the price as what you were quoted but it was also 6 years ago.

I just had a tree guard made by Petrillo Iron Works, it was about 50 inches by about 35, and it cost me a lot less than these prices !!!
