Thoroseal Application/Fire Escape Painting
We need to have thoroseal applied to the back of our building. We also need to have the fire escape painted (thanks to good old nyc building codes). Can anyone recommend a reliable, quality professional who does this type of work? Also, which should be done first–thorosealing followed by fire escape painting or vice versa?

You would thoroseal first, as the thoroseal
can be a little messy when applied... then
paint the fire escapes.
Make sure to cover any plants, etc., before thorosealing, and give your neighbors a "heads up" and have their stuff covered
if there's a chance that the splatter might
drop onto their property.

be careful of thorosealing as a cheap alternative to tuckpointing. we did it to the back of our brownstone a few years ago and ended up regretting it.

thoroseal could be a hectic job and if it isnt done according to instructions, and the contractors expertise, could cause more damage, if not applied properly after several months you could see the elephant cracks forming all over, if you havent dont the project as of yet ask the inspector is there another alternative such as elastomeric
