has anyone done this? we are about to put a new gas system in place of the old oil furnace. we just had the ducts cleaned, but fear that we may need to reline them. is it expensive? how is it done? advice, please!

I posted a very similar question. Scroll down about 10 posts - a conversation has already begun. I am also looking for recommendations of someone to do this. I have been told that it can be done without any damage to the interior walls of the house. The person who does it can install the lining from above (I assume they can slip the lining down into the chimney)

We had it done a couple of years ago by Andre Buchanan - sorry, I don't have his contact info here at present- but it was fairly painless. Our chimney (for some reason) required them to break holes in it in several interior locations, but they sealed off, repaired, and cleaned up in no time at all. All that was left for me to do was skim coat the approx 15" square areas left rough. We had a stainless liner - I believe terracotta is sometmes used as well.
As I recall it was somewhere in the realm of $2500. Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm away from home where all my records and receipts are.
Good luck.

I think the OP is asking about re-lining his heating ducts, but the answers are about re-lining flues.

Does anyone actually re-line hot air ducts? I thought duct CLEANING was a pretty extreme measure that's seldom, if ever, needed, but RE-LINING??
