Plans for a vacant lot in Prosp. Heights?
A crew's been spending the last couple of days clearing the brush from a vacant lot on St. Marks Ave between Vanderbilt and Underhill. An adjacent home was demolished about a month ago. I'm curious to see what the plans are (I live right above the site), but you need a specific address to enter into the DOB's BIS system to see what permits have been applied. Anyone know how I can track down the exact address of a vacant lot (and sorry if it's obvious). Thanks!

You need to look at a detailed map with block and lot numbers to figure out the exact address (try Property Shark) but I believe this is owned by HPD and that they just periodically clean it up when it gets overgrown. I've heard for years that it's been designated for affordable housing but HPD can be very slow to develop these kinds of sites, creating blight in the meantime. Right next door to this lot an old wood-frame farm house from the 1830s was recently demolished to make way for an apartment building. The lot was clearly underbuilt but it would've been great to have the house saved and sympathetic new development fitted in behind. Bring on historic designation in Prospect Heights!

The address is 270 St. Marks.
I would love to have somone interpret the last sale in 2006 ($26,000?).
The owner cleans up the lot about once a year. The tipping point (construction wise) will be when they remove the gigantic boulder.
