needed timber !
looking for old 3x12's or anything around that size 16' long - will pick up pronto ! in a house, on the street, from a shop...

What you are looking for is available commercially. There used to be a yard a few blocks inland from the BQE in Greenpoint by Meeker Morgan. that was a few years ago but there must be others. Let your fingers do the walking under used lumber. The prices are cheap, get extra so you can be choosy. They come out of houses that have come down, salvaged.
