How much should stairs cost?
Hi, i'e got an interior staircase (not sure how many steps -- maybe 15 to 18?). im being quoted a price of $2700 to replace all the treads. any idea if this is fair? or, if theres only a handful of broken treads -- which i think is the case -- any idea what a fair price per tread is?

I think that sounds a little high. We had both our stairs' treads replaced and one of them was rebuilt into the wall because it was falling out of it. Total was $3000 - but we paid the guy per week and he did a couple of other small things as well... And our other contractor said he could have done it for much cheaper, but he is Mexican and dirt cheap.

hello-
has anyone ever used
island stairs? or any other stair company
worth recommending?
i'm looking to replace
2 flights of brownstone stairs--
from parlor floor to 2nd and then
2nd to top floor. I was also wondering if
anyone could name a ballpark price.
thanks

I'm a little confused: why does it sound high when the two other figures here are right in the same range? (one said 2.5 and another said 3k.)

i just used 1800woodfloors.com to do my stairs and they were great. they will give you a price over the phone.i was a little sceptical at first contracting online without a refferal, but they are members of the Better Business Bureau so I took the chance and was thrilled

how much did you pay 1800woodfloors.com? How many steps did you have and did they replace both treads and risers?
