Energy Efficient Light Bulb Stores
Anybody know of Brooklyn stores with good selection of Compact Fluorescent and other energy efficient light bulbs? I don't want to order online and waste all my savings on shipping and handling. And my neighborhood hardware store has only the spiral bulbs - which do not fit in many fixtures.

Lowes in Park Slope have a ton of lightbulbs

Lowes (and probably many small hardware stores) carry Compact Fluorescents that look like regular light bulbs, although they're slightly larger. I don't think these come any brighter than 60 W equivalent though.

Yep, Lowe's... that's where I purchased my
"ee" bulbs.

is lowes better than what you find at home depot? they have a variety, with different grades of light (ie, 'sunlight' or 'white light' etc.) does anybody know if lowes carries the special 3-way CF bulbs? HD doesn't have them and i would love to get some adjustable cfs.
and you can get cf bulbs up to 100w equivalent.

Not sure what type of bulb you're looking for but I noticed quite an array of CF's at Jacks in the City(110 W 32nd St). I was there Monday and I saw a type and brand recommended by building super's for longevity.

Anyone know where to buy CF bulbs for dimmer switches (regular CF bulbs don't work right with dimmer switches, when you try to set the light to anything but maximum the cf bulb turns into a strobe light!! LOL) ? I know they exist b/c i have found them online but i haven't seen any in any stores in brooklyn yet.

You can go to Lowes website, search for a product, type in your zipcode, and they tell you if its in stock.

Try Sid's hardware on Jay St off of Willoughby. They have everything under the sun there or also True Value Hardware on Court and Livingston if you dont want to trek to Lowes or Home Depot.

also you can wait for the IKEA to open and then get stuck in a massive traffic jam and destroy your suspension trying to get there. when you get there though they have many nice CFL options including small spot and flood type versions.
