cost to install a door?
we need to replace a basement door. the door is terribly warped and frame is rotted out. we need a new steel door, not fancy, which i think can be got for under $300. a contractor is quoting us $1800 to buy the door and frame and install both. does this sound reasonable?

we had a metal fireproof (kalemein??) door and frame from basement to backyard replaced a couple of years ago for $800, parts and labor.

$1800 sounds about standard these days for a steel door installed. Although I agree that it is totally insane price.

We had two "Hollow metal fire rated doors" and frames installed for $2,500.
I'm thinking if they installed just one, it'll be slightly more than half that price, maybe $1,500.
