Landcape Architect Recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for a landscape architect who has done quality work with the 20'x40' Clinton Hill lots. Specifically, I'm probably looking to create a mostly slate but lots-of-greenery space. Also, someone who might incorporate my own amateur interest in landscaping.

Not a recommendation, but a related question. We live on a hill and during a downpour water flows downhill from our uphill neighbors' yards into our yard, yet our downhill neighbor has built her wall so high there's nowhere for the water to go other than into the door leading into our basement (which happens to be our kitchen and main living area). Does anyone know the city regs governing the drainage of water on one's property. Also, who can help me solve this problem? An engineer? A landscape architect?

It's illegal for your neighbors to create runoff that goes into your yard instead of down a drain, 2:05pm. Maybe hire an engineer who knows the city regulations, to do an inspection and write up a report describing what's going on, along with his recommendations. After that, you can try on your own to talk to the neighbors about stopping their runoff. If they don't respond and fix their yards, call the city and/or get an attorney.

I took at class at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with Nigel Rollings: it was called 'brownstone garden design' -- he does landscape architecture and specialises in small gardens. with his teaching experience he'd be well suited to helping w/ your own interest in landscaping.
not sure what his business name is but you can probably track him down through the BBG.

I just had my backyard done by Chuck Dorr from Dig (a store on Atlantic Avenue). His work and his crew are fantastic-- he does a lot of work around Brooklyn, I'm sure he's done work by you.

If you want details, you can e-mail me at jflorio@acmecreative.net. I'll be glad to send you some pix. The place looks great.

Good luck!

Chuck did my Garden this past spring also. He did a great Job! I was able to leave him keys to the house with no problems. Very nice crew and they clean up after themselves every day. check out his website at www.gardendig.com
