How to Demo Bathroom Floor Slab?
We are currently working on a gut renovation and are basically complete except for the bathroom floor slabs. I am referring to the concrete that is poured between the wooden floor joists. Is it best to just jack hammer it out?? Anybody with experience with this situation? And no…leaving it alone is not an option! Thanks!!

Do not use a Jack hammer,or a Sledge hammer either.
Use a regular claw hammer and a crow bar.

Yeah, most of the time the space between the joists is fly ash packed in and it's being held up by boards nailed cross wise to the joists. The cement/tile section on top is usually just a few inches thick. Use a small hand sledge/3 lb hammer while wearing goggles, work the cracks if you see any. We're talking about an old house right? Otherwise...

OP...yes it's an old house 1910.

Do you intend to insulate the space afterward?
Assuming you will remove it. Do so carefully,
and look out for a gas-line possibly buried in the filler or just below it running through the floor either parallel or perpendicular to the beams. You also may have electrical wiring below the filler supports which you need to be wary of. You can carefully crack the surface tile/concrete(only)
with a small percussion hammer. The rest requires regular hand-tools.If you need advice or help call me at 347 419 0023

I just did this with a regular old hammer. The "cement" was very soft and just needed a few pounds before it began to crumble. It came up really easily.
