Feedback on Bay Ridge Windows & Doors

We are considering having Bay Ridge Windows & Doors replace our parlor/garden level windows. We also had Heights Historic look at the job but they are apparently too busy to give us an estimate.

Can anyone tell me about their experience with Bay Ridge -- were you happy with their work?

I've been using them to slowly replace the windows in my brownstone. I think they are really great. I've used other companies over the years and I find them very no nonsense and good prices.
Good luck!

We used them for 6 windows. They did a nice job with the install and cleaned up after themselves, although one of the installers tried to make me pay an additional $100 for some bogus masonry work. I just said no. I think you will find lots of recommendations on this site for them. Search the archive.

initally they were very professional. but after installing all custom windows they refused to correct errors, were totally non responsive. In addition i requested that they give me screens that were operable which they climed at purchase that i could have. denined that my custom window came with anything but full height screens which could not be moved. I believe you should check the better business bureau a number of other peole had very bad experiences with them.

We used them for 13 top of the line marvin wood replacement windows. We finally finished our renovation and could afford to replace the old aluminum ones. Windows arrived before promissed date, crew arrived on day and time specified. Were pretty good at making sure inside moldings were not damaged. Finished on time 2days total. Even removed very old and large window AC unit and dumpted it for me. One complaint. The first day they installed was very very windy and the plastic drop cloths i put down blew off some of the furniture so dirt got on them. I would remember to cover your stuff before they show up so there will be less cleaning after. Now I have to stain and poly 13 double sash windows before winter comes.

I haven't dealt with Bay Ridge but EZ-Tilt did our Marvin windows and were great. Ask for Bill Jacobs.

I bout my windows from them - installed them myself (with handiman help). Seemed fine. I needed new sash mechanizms on a couple (very large windows and not really quite strong enough). Replaced them without a problem (still have to intall a couple. Also had a good experience with Bill Jacobs in my previous co-op. Wow two good suppliers!

You're lucky Heights Historic is too busy. I wrote last year about my awful experience with them and, 9 months later, the job STILL isn't done and they don't return my phone calls.

I had Bay Ridge Windows perform a repair to a damaged window (not damaged by Bay Ridge), I also needed a balance replaced, they sent someone out to look at it and he did not think the balance was the problem. His carpenters performed a horrible hack job on the repair, and didn't bring the balance. They don't return calls and have been very rude.

I was going to replace 6 more windows with them, but they won't work with me to remove the stops first, so the window area is like the originals, and insist the stops are integral to the frame, which is simply not true.

I am now looking for another installer.

I posted earlier about Bay Ridge coming to repair a window, not damaged by them, and want to say that Bill has made good on the workmanship, and addressed all the other issues.
