cheated at Courthouse Apts

When I originally moved into the Courthouse Apts., the lease said that the owner would pay for the tenants' memberbership at the YMCA during the "initial term of the lease." When I renewed my lease this May, the managing agent told me the YMCA would be continuing that arrangement and I signed the lease with that understanding. Now all of a sudden, the YMCA is demanding that I pay for membership and the managing agent at the Courthouse Apts. is denying that she ever told me the free gym membership would be continued. Do I have any rights? Has anyone else at the Courthouse had this experience?

if the continuation of this arrangement was not put into writing, you're probably out of luck, as leases typically provide that they cannot be amended by oral agreements.

z is right in most circumstances. Do you have any hard evidence that you were promised that the gym fee arrangement would continue, such as voicemails, emails, letters, or even your own notes memorializing meetings or phone calls?

Also, have you spoken to whomever supervises the on-site manager?
