Townhouse Must Have Security Systems?

I've been told that Chubb Insurance now demands that all NYC townhouses must have a security system (with a link to a monitoring company) -- and that this is a city wide policy. I'm trying to get this verified with Chubb, but wanted to know if anyone else had heard the same thing? Thanks in advance. Also, has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with D&W (a security company)?

I have Chubb insurance and it was not stipulated last year when we bought our house and signed up for our policy. However, we now have an ADT system. The savings from the insurance co. for having the alarm is about 50% of the monthly cost...

9:13 how much do you pay with the ADT system? I bought travelers insurance and i was told by my broker that getting an alarm system wouldn't really save me much anyway, which seemed very odd to me at the time. I am wondering if maybe the broker just didn't want me to save as much b/c maybe they get paid based on how much i pay in premiums....

We pay $42 a month for ADT security system. The insurance discount is $20 a month. (We did not have to pay to have it installed. It was already there)

We had to get not only security alarms but fire and carbon monoxide alarms, fire on all floors, all going to monitoring company, with our Chubb Insurance. We didn't have a problem with that. We would have got that anyway.

Chubb also required that all equipment will be UL rated and that installers are UL certified. Do others have met this requirement or tried to negotiate with Chubb? I was told by my contractor that they may agree to waive teh installer UL certification which can save a bundle. Any suggestion will be greatly apprecaited
