Replacing a spiral staircase with a straight one
We have a duplex (one room is in the basement) and we'd like to replace the spiral staicase with a simple straight one. Any idea of the cost? And how much room does a straight staircase take up?
Thanks

It takes about 15 feet in length to climb from one floor to the next depending on ceiling height. The price will vary depending on the materials. Do you want a wooden staircase? I'll bet a wooden staircase could run $20,000- a bit lower if painted and much higher if you are replicating Victorian trim.
