Crown molding
I need an artisan to extend our existing crown molding about 20-25 feet to complete the living room, having removed a wall. A referral/recomendation would be very much appreciated as an alternative to ripping this unique original detail out altogether.

an artisan?
why don't you just get any competant contractor to do it?
installing crown molding properly is simple as long as your walls and ceilings are level. . .
anyone calling themselves an "artisan" will rip you off

We have used Absolute Plaster on several jobs. Fitz, the owner, is very responsive and they do great work. His number is 917-412-5593.
Good luck,

Plaster mouldings are an artisanal craft, so the OP was absolutely correct in describing the potential contractor as an artisan.
Not just any "competant" (I assume you meant "competent") contractor can do mouldings, and anyone who tells you that is a rip-off artist.
Oh yes, and it's really simple "as long as your walls and ceilings are level" -- but if you live in an older building, they NEVER are, which is why mouldings were invented in the first place: to conceal the fact that the ceiling-to-wall line was never quite straight/level.
Our exterior brownstone contractor (who also does interior general contracting) did some beautiful crown moulding repairs on another project I just saw, in Park Slope. Progeny - 646 852 2291
Good luck!
