Basement Flood revisted
I saw the post below about the basement flood and was wondering about expanding the discussion. I just bought my brownstone (two weeks ago!!) so not only am I a bit overwhelmed right now but also I am a complete neophyte about this stuff, so I appreciate any advice.
My basement too had water, but in three different places:
1. along the side of the wall that adjoins the neighboring property.
2. along the wall next to the boiler room, which is located in the midde of the basement.
3. in the front of the basement, near the hatch.
It strikes me that this may mean that there are three different things going on. Any thoughts?
Also, how urgent is getting this looked at? And who do I call? And how much does stuff like this cost?
Again, I appreciate any and all advice!

Keep watching the Weather Channel. Next time they say it going to rain hard get a lawn chair and a cooler with a six-pack of your favorite brew. Set yourself in the basement with the lights on and wait. When the water appears on the basement floor note where and how it got there. Proceed from there to your adjoining neighbors, ask if they have water in their basements. Look in the backyard and out front to see if there is pooling water or overflowing drains or drainpipes. I think you'll know enough then to teach us a thing or two.

It took me a day or two but I solved a problem like that to one of my customers; the downspout was disconnected(rotten) from the pipe to the main.
We had to remove brick and stone from the foundation to reach the connection, and reinstall every thing buck up. And you know what no news is good news, they never called me back for the same problem.
I'll say get two sik packs one for one for me.I like "Estrella Galicia"

First I'll say don't panic. Your house has been standing for a 100 years plus probably... BUT anything to do with water is a priority. It is invasive and costly so I would put it at the top of your list. No matter how great your new kitchen looks, if it falls through the floor it won't matter.
