Slate Tile and Radiant Heat

We are considering re-doing the garden level in our modest-sized frame house (20X32) with a slate floor and radiant heat. This level would be kitchen/dining room/powder room or small bath. Has anyone ever done anything like this? Any pitfalls? Any idea of costs?

Slate, being a stone, should be a perfect material! It looks good too, though a tad dark for the garden floor. But yeah, go for it.

I am jealous! I want to do slate sooo bad, and yeah. The stone is going to radiate heat well.

What's your price per square foot?

i used slate in my bathroom with electrical radiant
heat...awesome. toasty. i love it. my cat loves it even more!
only thing i can say is slate ain't the easiest to clean unless it's super smooth. It's hard to get a mop into those little dips and valleys.
good luck!
